Abstract From the Canadian patent

Equalizing amplifying circuitry for compensating frequency dependent losses occurring in a signal transmitted over a network such as a cable. The circuitry includes an equalizing network responsive to the signal transmitted over the cable, the equalizing circuitry having a predetermined frequency response characteristic. The output signal from the equalizing network is applied to an amplifier and an attenuator applies a portion of the the amplifier output as a positive feedback signal to frequency response characteristic modifying circuitry to vary the amount of current passing through the equalizing circuitry as a function of the amplitude of the positive feedback signal to thereby …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 13, 1993 and granted February 3, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 13, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 13, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
