Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process for recovering copper values from copper ore tailing streams with a conditioning step to mitigate the effects of prior contact with flotation reagents. Such a process is useful for recovering copper values from a copper ore final tailing stream with at least one conditioning under acidic conditions with a water soluble sulfide that converts the oxidized copper values into a collectable sulfide form. In live tailings the, rougher tailings stream are conditioned individually and subsequently combined with cleaner tailings concentrate for copper recovery by leaching. Separate treatment of the rougher tailings facilitates additional recovery of copper values.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 7, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 7, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 7, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
