Aqueous, anionic, acrylic polymer, compositions comprising a copolymer of an alkyl acrylate, an alkyl methacrylate and one or more acrylate acids or salts thereof are disclosed. By controlling the particle size of the copolymer and introducing a surfactant, enhanced freeze-thaw stability can be obtained with the polymer compositions of the present invention. The polymer compositions are compatible in all-aqueous hairspray compositions, as well as those which contain up to about 80 weight percent volatile organic compounds or more.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 28, 1993 and granted November 23, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 28, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 28, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
