Abstract From the Canadian patent

A circuit and method for variably adjusting a data detecting level by using a pulse with modulation (PWM) signal. The pulse width modulation (PWM) signal having duty corresponding to a predetermined level control value is generated, and the level of the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal is detected to determine the data detecting level to a level corresponding to the detected level. A read test is performed while the level control value is incremented by a given stage from an initial level control value in in response to a test mode to, determine the level control value less than that generating a data error by one stage to a maximum value. Further, the read test is implemented while the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 24, 1993 and granted September 2, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 24, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 24, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
