Abstract From the Canadian patent

A material for semiconductor screens and its use for manufacturing cables capacitors and electromagnetic shielding for electrical and electronic devices are described. Cables and electrical and electronic devices containing said material are also described. The semiconductor screen consists of a polymeric matrix containing one or more polymers and 5-70 % by weight of one or more dispersed conjugated and undoped polymers. In the absence of an electrical field screen conductivity is very low, but conductivity increases in proportion to the field applied (see curves 2-9 in the figure).

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 1, 1992 and granted April 8, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 1, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 1, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
