Abstract From the Canadian patent

A motion control system for hydraulically operated lifting devices. The system provides for the dynamic weighing of a loaded container by controllably directing hydraulic flow through a bypass chamber (51) of a two-way valve (42). An analog output signal is generated by a hydraulic pressure transducer (53) fluidly communicating with the two-way valve or by a tensiometer (24) mounted on the arms of the lifting device (14). The two-way valve (42) further provides a second bypass chamber (54) which receives fluid under gravity from the lift circuit line (40) of the hydraulic cylinder (18) for controllably lowering the lifting device (14). The pressure transducer (53) or tensiometer (24) …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 31, 1992 and granted May 4, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 31, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 31, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
