Abstract From the Canadian patent

A 7000 series alloy and a specific heat treatment for the manufacture of pressurised hollow bodies and in particular, metallic cylinders for compressed gases. By % weight the alloy contains 6.25 <= Zn <= 8.0~ Mn <= 0.20 1.2 <= Mg <= 2.2 ~ Ti <= 0.05 1.7 <= Cu <= 2.8 0.10 <= Zr <= 0.25. Others each <= 0.05 Fe <= 0.20 ~~ " total <= 0.15 Si+fe <= 0.40 ~~ Remainder: A1. Cr <= 0.05. The final annealing is ideally carried out in 3 stages: 1st stage: between 105 and 120°C for 6 to 12h 2nd stage: between 170 and 190°C for 0.5 to 20h 3rd stage: between 105 and 120°C for 12 to 36h.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 16, 1993 and granted November 18, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 16, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 16, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
