Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process wherein a particulate catalyst which is disposed in at least two , serially connected beds is contacted by a hy-, pochlorite containing liquid to decompose the hypochlorite and evolve oxygen is improved by arranging that the liquid flows in a direction counter to that of the evolved oxygen in each of the beds. The efficiency with which the hypochlorite is decomposed is greater than when the liquid is in cocucrent or alternating co and counter current flow.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 1, 1992 and granted January 15, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 1, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 1, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
