A jig is used for manufacturing containers from used milk and the like cartons. The jig is configured as a block that fits slideably into the carton when the carton top is opened. A peripheral notch on the jig forms a crease around the carton when the carton is rubbed with an edge, for example a table edge or an item of cutlery. A sharp knife is used to remove parts of the carton above the jig leaving a tuck tab along one side. The corners of the carton are then severed from the top down to the crease line to provide flaps for closing the top of the container.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 9, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 9, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 9, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
