Abstract From the Canadian patent

The method makes it possible to produce ice sheets more, particularly for model tests with ships and marine structures which possess a texture which corresponds at least approximately to that of ice sheets in nature and whose deformational and failure behaviour supply a very largely true-to-scale reproduction of what is observed in ice sheet in nature and consists in that the ice sheet is produced in that the columnar growth of the ice is disrupted by the introduction of fine-grain ice growth nuclei into the water body in such a way that a fine-granular ice is obtained over the entire ice sheet area or in one or several layers (Fig.1).

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 12, 1992 and granted October 12, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 12, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 12, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
