Abstract From the Canadian patent

A monitoring apparatus (10) is included in each street light (1) of a plurality of street lights. Data is sent from each monitoring apparatus (10) to a monitoring station (11) via the, power supply cables (13) connected to the street lamps under control of the monitoring station. The monitoring station (11) stores the data until it is requested to transfer the data to an interrogating station. The data is then analysed to identify faulty street lights.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 26, 1992 and granted August 25, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 26, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 26, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
