A molten asphalt binder (8) and an aqueous phase (9) are fed together into an emulsifying chamber (1) e.g. a dynamic mixer with a, stator and a rotor via the inlet (6) thereof, and fed through a series of shearing zones (28-33), whereafter the resulting emulsion is removed via the chamber outlet (10). Each shearing zone comprises at least one circular groove (30) which is formed in one surface (21) of a stator element (16) and engaged by projections (39) rigidly connected to a related rotor disc (48) which is rotated at a peripheral speed of 4-18 m/s by a shaft (25) driven by a motor (26). The resulting emulsion may be used to produce pavements including road pavements, surfacings and …

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 21, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 21, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 21, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
