The invention provides a method of, and apparatus for detecting and analysing moving particles using an impact , responsive transducer which generates a detection signal having an amplitude related to force of particle impact. The transducer output signal is monitored, and when it exceeds a given threshold any local maximum , values are noted. Those values are compared to determine which has the overall maximum amplitude. A final signal is then generated in order to provide a representation of the maximum value, and hence the momentum and time of occurrence of a particle impact.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 20, 1992 and granted February 8, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 20, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 20, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
