Abstract From the Canadian patent

In this invention an optical analog signal obtained, such that light having a wavelength .lambda.1 is intensity-modulated or frequency-modulated with a modulation index m per channel and a chirping amount .lambda.s for 100% modulation is transmitted. An optical element connected to an outlet of a transmission medium having a polarization mode dispersion ? with respect to an optical signal is selected such that when the optical signal output from the optical element requires a predetermined composite second-order distortion C dB a transmittance, T0 of the optical element for the light having the wavelength .lambda.1 and a polarization dependency A of an insertion loss satisfy the following …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 16, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 16, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 16, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
