Disclosed is a superconductor-magnet system having high thrust and stability and a method for increasing the thrust and stability of such a system. The superconductor-magnet system comprises a first magnet (M1), a second magnet (M2) and a superconductor (222). The magnets (M1, M2) are in motion relative to each other and the superconductor (222) is in motion relative to one and stationary relative to the other magnet. High thrust and stability can be achieved by increasing the magnetic field (B1, B2) of the magnet in motion relative to the superconductor (222). Also disclosed are magnetic thrust (222) and journal bearings (100) utilizing the above system.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 14, 1992 and granted January 15, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 14, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 14, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
