Abstract From the Canadian patent

A process for preparing a diol soluble antiperspirant active comprises reacting an antiperspirant compound with a water soluble, normally liquid diol in a water solution. The compound is heated for about 1 to about 100 hours at a temperature of about 50°C to about 110°C. Zinc glycinate is added to the reaction mixture and the water is removed to recover a powdered antiperspirant active.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 15, 1993 and granted August 15, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 15, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 15, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
