Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method for the production of fiber reinforced plastic composites (18) in , which a continuously moving array of fibers (10) is impregnated with resin and fast cured as it passes through a shadow boundary (17) created by a source of radiant energy (16) such as ultraviolet light. The method is useful for the production of axial composites such as tubes, pipes, conduits ducts and, the like, which may be created without mandrels by passing the array of fibers through closed dies. The method is also useful with open or rolling dies to create nonaxial composites such as wall panels guard , rails, vehicle body parts, and the like.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 21, 1992 and granted January 2, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 21, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 21, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
