Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract of the Disclosure, The mass of a tire/wheel assembly is altered to apply a static imbalance to the assembly in a manner which reduces the overall tendency of the assembly to cause vibration in the plane perpendicular to its axis of rotation when in use. The applied imbalance, combined with any static imbalance initially inherent in the tire/wheel assembly results, in a desired net static imbalance oriented so as to induce a centrifugal force which opposes and, therefore tends to cancel, at least one component such as the first order harmonic, of radial force variation characterizing the assembly. The magnitude of the net static imbalance is limited and is preferably selected to …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 22, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 22, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 22, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
