Abstract From the Canadian patent

Compositions containing aryl phosphites and water to hydrolyze the aryl phosphite provide controlled and extended work time when used as hardening agents for the ambient temperature hardening of phenolic resins and for rapid hardening of such resins at modestly elevated temperatures. Pre-solvolysis with small quantities of water, alkanols of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or alkylene glycols of 2 to 4 carbon atoms improve compatibility of trisubstituted phosphites with the resin. Pre-hydrolysis of the phosphites as well as addition of furfuryl alcohol or alkylene glycols of 2 to 4 carbon atoms accelerate the hardening (curing) of the resin. Various compounds such as: carboxylic acid amides urea, …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 2, 1993 and granted January 6, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 2, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 2, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
