Abstract From the Canadian patent

Failure of one or more battery cells, for example of an inverter battery bank is detected by monitoring the second derivative (D) of the curve U(t) representative of the voltage U at the terminals of the battery in the course of discharge. If the second derivative is positive (F7) this is significant of a failure.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 26, 1993 and granted April 17, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 26, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 26, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
