A flow detecting system for for example, a water supply, pipe, includes a flow detector and a control circuit which receives signals from the flow detector. The control circuit generates an output in the event that the sensed flow rate fails to fall below a predetermined level during a given time period. Such failure of the flow rate to fall below the predetermined level is an indication that there is a leak in the supply pipe downstream of the flow detector and a control valve is closed on generation of an output by the control circuit.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 29, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 29, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 29, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
