The design and construction of past piston assemblies having a wrist pin bolted to a connecting rod have excessive weight and structural components, and requires more complex machining techniques and tooling. The present invention overcomes these problems by providing a piston assembly (30) with a wrist pin (36) attached to a piston member (32). Thus, the length of the leg members (80) are short and do not require a portion surrounding the wrist pin (36). The results being reduced piston member (32) and piston assembly (30) weight and lower inertia a simplified forging or, casting process a more easily machinable cavity (86) within the piston member (32) and a higher quality piston assembly …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 29, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 29, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 29, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
