A magnetohydrodynamic angular rate sensor is described. A housing (30) supports first, and second fluid proof masses in respective coaxial annular channels (11 17), permitting rela-, tive motion between the proof masses and the housing. First and second magnets (12, 18) asso-, ciated with each annular channel (11 17) result in an electric potential , being generated across each channel proportional to the relative circumferential velocity between the proof masses and, the housing. The annular channels ace connected together to form a continuous pumped fluid, circuit which introduces a radial flow velocity in each channel. At low rotational frequencies, a, circumferential velocity …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 22, 1991 and granted July 9, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 22, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 22, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
