Novel methods are provided for nucleic acid amplification by continuous, substantially isothermal, self-sustained sequence replication ("3SR") utilizing RNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity, RNAse H activity and DNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity. In one of the methods before, enzymatic activities can be provided by only two enzymes a reverse, transcriptase and a DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. The methods may employ two or three enzymes to provide the necessary enzymatic activities. Thus, in certain of the methods an exogenous source of, RNAse H, such as E. coli RNAse H is employed in combination, with a reverse transcriptase and a DNA-dependent RNA …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 13, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 13, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 13, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
