Abstract From the Canadian patent

Radar apparatus provided with a transmit generator (1) and antenna means (2) for the transmission of comparatively long linearly, frequency-modulated transmitter pulses. Echo signals are received by antenna means (2) and a heterodyne signal is generated in mixer stage (3). Propagation time differences for different echo pulses are compensated by means of a dispersive delay element (4) incorporated in the radar receiver. Distortion of the echo pulses in the dispersive delay element is corrected on the basis of a Fresnel ripple correction. A Fourier transformation unit (5) transfers the corrected echo pulses to time domain video with low sidelobes.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 4, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 4, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 4, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
