A fiber optic cable connector secures a fiber optic cable to an equipment housing (e.g. a CATV equipment housing) and allow individual fibers of the cable to pass into the housing in a strain relieved condition for connection to electrooptical componentry. A strength component of the fiber optic cable is clamped within the connector body, exterior of the equipment housing to strain-relieve the, optical fibers from forces imparted to the cable without taking up housing space. Also, the connector clamps a strength component of a protective "fan-out" tube covering the individual fibers of the cable passing from the connector into the housing, to strain-relieve the fibers from forces imparted …

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 27, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 27, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 27, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
