Process for the preparation of hexafluorobutane and, intermediates thereby obtainable, Abstract of the Disclosure 1,1,1,4,4,4-Hexafluorobutane is prepared by first reacting 1,1,3,4,4-pentachlorobuta-1,3-diene with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of catalysts at 60 to 180°C to give 1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-chlorobutane and, converting this to 1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluorobutane. On working up the product of the first stage of the process it is possible to isolate novel compounds of formula (I): CF2X-CH2-R (I), in which, X is fluorine or chlorine and R is -CHCl-CF2Cl, -CHCl-CFCl2 or -CCl=CCl2. Why it's free to use
- Filed April 26, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 26, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 26, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
