Abstract From the Canadian patent

An array of electrodes is applied to an internal or external surface of a biological system such as a human being. The electrodes generate signals which are processed to compure a surface differential of the surface potential at a multiplicity of spatial locations within a given time epoch. The signal processing is repeated for multiple sequential time epochs and an image is constructed from the surface differential of the surface potential for each time epoch. Thereafter the se-, querttial images corresponding to sequential time epochs-are displayed: The two-dimensional image changes as the distribution of bioelectric sources evolves so as to provide a motion picture of electrical …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 23, 1991 and granted January 8, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 23, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 23, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
