A shoulder pad assembly employed in a garment to provide a desired shape or contour of the garment in the shoulder region, includes a protective member having an inner protective face and an opposed non-snagging outer face; the protective face has a plurality of loops or hook-receiving elements adapted to completely cover and releasably engage outwardly directed hook members of a fastening strip on the shoulder pad which is employed to mount the shoulder pad to the garment; in this way, snagging of the hook members with other garments can be avoided when the shoulder pads are stored in a clothes drawer.

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 22, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 22, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 22, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
