Used polyethylene film is shredded and subjected in a solvent bath containing an organic solvent with intense agitation, e.g. by mechanical stirring to frictional surface, cleaning and, at the same time to an extraction process without dissolving plastic. The extraction process releases film additives and PE waxes from the shredded material and removes printing inks, especially through the frictional surface cleaning.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 26, 1992 and granted August 26, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 26, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 26, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
