Abstract From the Canadian patent

Silethynylenedisiloxane polymers are, described with repeating units represented by -R1R2SiC~CSiR3R4OSiR5R6O- where R1-R6 independently represent hydrogen atoms, alkyl groups aryl groups, or, alkenyl groups. The polymers are prepared by reacting a disilylacetylene compound represented by the formula X1R1R2SiC~CSiR3R4X1 and a silane compound represented by the formula X22SiR5R6 where X1 and X2 represent H OH, OM, or a hydrolyzable group. X1 and X2 are not identical and are selected so that they undergo a condensation reaction to form a siloxane bond.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 27, 1993 and granted August 18, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 27, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 27, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
