Dynamic vibration damper (1a;1b) which includes a flexible bar (3), devices (13;19) which fix bar (3) in a cantilever position to a structure (2) whose vibrations we intend to dampen, and a pendulum (5) connected to the free end of the bar and dimensioned so as to offer a mass (m) which sets a first eigenfrequency of vibration (f1) and a moment of inertia (J m) which sets a second eigenfrequency of vibration (f2) at a desired level, where the first and the second eigenfrequency (f1 and f2) are suitably equal to the fundamental frequency and first harmonic frequency of the excitation to which the structure (2) is subjected.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 20, 1993 and granted June 1, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 20, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 20, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
