An optical sensor for three dimensional shapes includes a laser that produces a lamellar plane beam which illuminates the surface of an object. The lamellar plane beam produces a curvilinear luminous trace that is scanned by at least one video camera, to produce information that is then converted into digital data representing pixel coordinates. The sensor includes a lightbox having a common housing that is positioned a short distance above the object to be scanned. The lightbox housing also includes a laser source that produces a coll1mated rectilinear beam and an optical device for converting the rectilinear beam into the lamellar plane beam. The lightbox housing also includes a device …

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 29, 1992 and granted June 17, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 29, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 29, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
