A biologically active peptide which includes the following structure:, R1-R1-R1-R3-R5-R1-R1-R1-R1-R1-R2-R2-R1-R1-R3-R1-R4-R1-R3-R4-R1-R1. R1 is a hydrophobic amino acid, R2 is a basic hydrophilic amino acid and, R3 is a neutral hydrophilic amino acid R4 is a hydrophobic or, basic hydrophilic amino acid and R5 is a hydrophobic, basic, hydrophilic or neutral hydrophilic amino acid. Examples of such peptides include the following: (SEQ ID NO:1)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:2)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:3)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:4)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:5)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:6)-NH2; (SEQ ID NO:7)-NH2; and (SEQ ID NO:8). The peptides may be employed in pharmaceutical compositions.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 8, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended May 8, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 8, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
