A polysulfide-modified epoxy resin system in which, upon curing, the polysulfide rubber phase separates into discrete particles, typically 1 to 5 µm in size to, enhance physical properties such as peel strength without any significant reduction in glass transition temperature. The phase separation is brought about by using as a modifier a liquid polysulfide containing a high proportion of polymethylene groups of 4 to 12 carbon atoms. The polysulfide may be adducted with an excess of epoxy resin prior to incorporation in the composition.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 10, 1992 and granted January 11, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 10, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 10, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
