A linear actuator has reversible electric motors driving a screw-threaded shaft engaging a roller nut. A tubular housing attached to the nut has at its remote end an internal seating and load securing lugs. An hydraulic shock absorber unit giving linear, deceleration, is normally held in its most relaxed condition between the seating and an end of a spacer tube butting against the nut. When the nut is within the shock absorber stroke distance of the driven end of the shaft, the free end of the shaft compresses the shock absorber unit against the seating. When the nut is within shock absorber stroke distance of the free end of the shaft a ring, engages a stop collar, thereby holding the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 4, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 4, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 4, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
