Abstract of the Disclosure, The data transmission process of the present invention provides a modem, coupled to a radiotelephone and transmitting in cellular system, with information pertaining to SAT mutes, mutes caused by cellular data transmissions and, hand-offs. The modem uses the information to decide when to transmit data. This process increases data throughput since the modem will not transmit data when the other modem cannot receive it, thereby reducing retransmissions of the same data.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 3, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended December 3, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 3, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
