Disclosed are sexing methods of bovine embryos by discriminating PCR products, which are obtained by amplifying specific DNA sequences by PCR with two pairs of male-specific and gender-neutral primers. These primers were derived from DNAs which specifically hybridize to the bovine male genome and from DNAs which gender-neutrally hybridize to both bovine male and female genomes.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 2, 1992 and granted April 4, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 2, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 2, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
