Abstract From the Canadian patent

A fusible sign support has a hanger adapted for connection to an overhead support and a bracket adapted for connection to a sign, The hanger and the bracket are secured to one another by a fusible, eutectic bonding material which liquefies at a selected elevated tempera-, ture. When the bonding material liquefies the hanger and bracket separate enabling the sign to fall. The construction makes possible removal of a sign from the path of water emitted from a fire sprinkler head. The liquefication of the bonding material occurs at a temperature lower than that at which the sprinkler head is activated.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 30, 1992 and granted July 22, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 30, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 30, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
