Abstract From the Canadian patent

An adaptive feed-forward cancelling system obtains a reference signal and a sample signal from an amplifier by directional couplers. The sample signal essentially consists of an undistorted input signal component and a noise and distortion component. The reference and sample signals are provided to an adaptive interference canceller which performs an adaptive cancellation process. The interference canceller provides a cancellation signal essentially consisting of the signal component which is common to both the reference signal and the sample signal. The cancellation signal is injected into a transmission line which carries the sample signal so that only an error signal remains which …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 23, 1992 and granted January 20, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 23, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 23, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
