A chimney cleaning device has a brush attatched to a cable. A motor is used to rotate a drum on which the cable is winded so that the brush is lowered into the chimney and pulled back out. The cleaning device is provided with a set of strategically positioned radial venting apertures for optimising the draught of the chimney. A built-in heat sensing device is incorporated to send a signal to a remote location if the temperature of the smoke reaching the device exceeds a predetermined level.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 16, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 16, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 16, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
