Apparatus and process in which one plate or several ac-, curately superimposed plates (10 16) carry items (12, 18) to be, packaged. On inversion of the plates items either fall directly in-, to the voids of a partitioned box (26) or fall into individual packages held by a plate, which packaged items are then ejected by pushrods, etc. into a single box. A plate may have cut-away portions (e.g. V-shaped grooves) which receive upstanding edges or partition walls of a box to accurately register box with plate (and contents) and nest the box into the plate to achieve configuration-accurate inversion of the items to be packaged.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 10, 1991 and granted January 15, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 10, 2011.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 10, 2013.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
