Abstract From the Canadian patent

A high dynamic strength or fatigue resistance is achieved in a taper thread reinforcing bar splice for use in steel reinforced concrete by coordinating the elongations of the coupler sleeve (10) and bar (12 14) to achieve the required, movements of the coupler sleeve at the mouth. This is accomplished in the preferred embodiment by two attenuation grooves on the outside of a circular cylindrical coupler body at each end, each groove ( 28, 29 35, 36) being placed in a particular axial relationship with respect to the end of the coupler sleeve and the area of thread engagement with the bar The grooves are of different depths with the groove (35, 36) closest to the mouth of the coupler sleeve …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 28, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 28, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 28, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
