This invention involves a process for preparing a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible copolyester consisting of terephthalate isophthalate, sulfo-aryldicarboxylate, ethylene glycol and polyoxyethylene glycol units. The process characterized by the following stages: a transesterification reaction (exchange) between dimethyl terephthalate and a dimethyl sulfo-aryldicarboxylate on the one hand and ethylene glycol on the other, a direct esterification between isophthalic acid and a new quantity of ethylene glycol and a condensation polymerization reaction. Why it's free to use
- Filed October 19, 1992 and granted January 5, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 19, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 19, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
