The mounting positions of a plurality of recording heads (1Y, 1M, 1C, 1K) are set to be variable with respect to a paper feed direction, so that a post-ejection recording head (1Y) is mounted at the downstream side in the paper feed direction as compared to a pre-ejection recording head, thereby preventing generation of banding in color ink jet recording and, improving image quality.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 16, 1992 and granted September 1, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 16, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 16, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
