Abstract From the Canadian patent

The preparation of N-(aryl)-1,2,4-triazolopyrimidine-2-sulfonamides by the coupling of substituted 1,2,4-triazolopyrimidine-2-sulfonyl halides with aryl amines of substantially reduced nueleophilie reactivity is facilitated by conducting the reaction in the presence of a pyridine base and a catalytic amount of dimethyl sulfoxide.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 7, 1992 and granted November 19, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 7, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 7, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
