In a method of micropropagation a series of horizontal cuts are , made through a mass of fairly straight stemmed plantlets (11) growing from a gelled nutrient medium (12) to obtain cut crop parts, (17) containing on average at least one tip or node per cut portion. At each cut, the crop parts (17) are transferred in bulk for example by air-flow or gravity to a fresh gelled nutrient medium (12A), where they are planted by random scattering. In a final stage, harvesting of propagules (56) from plantlets (11) is achieved by combing through the crop with a comb (39) and separating, the propagules by producing relative movement of the comb (39) away from the gelled medium (12).

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 29, 1990. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 29, 2010.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 29, 2012.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
