Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to hydrophilic water-dilatable, cyclodextrin polymerizates with a high cyclodextrin content which possess good mechanical properties and to a process for producing them. The cyclodextrin pearl polymerizates according to the invention are produced by reacting hydroxylalkyl cyclodextrin derivatives with bifunctional crosslinking agents such as epichlorhydrin or diepoxides, followed by hydroxyalkylation of the primary product so obtained. The cyclodextrin polymerizates produced in this manner have mechanical properties appreciably superior to those of known comparable cyclodextrin polymers.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 22, 1991. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 22, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 22, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
