Abstract From the Canadian patent

In this invention, the Imperial Laminator is a laminating machine. If manufactured this, machine would have the ability to laminate the entire pristine cut edge (s) of any paper or paperboard product, measuring from 2 inches to 40 inches in length. There are no restrictions on the number of edges having to be modified. In effect the edge of the paper, or paperboard product would become entirely sealed. The machine is very intricate in that the laminate sealing the edge (s) can measure anywhere from 1/8 inch or more X 2 sides in a wraparound process.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 24, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 24, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 24, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
