Abstract From the Canadian patent

A pressure sensitive bituminous composition having improved tack and adhesiveness, comprising: (1) from about 50 to about 87% of a bituminous component; from about 1 to about 15% of a thermoplastic block copolymer M1, of the A-B-A type, preferably styrene-butadienestyrene; (3) from about 1 to about 10% of a block copolymer, M2, of the A-B type, preferably styrenebutadiene; and (4) from about 5 to about 50% of a fumed silica. The fumed silica is an active ingredient which absorbs excess oil and improves the tack and adhesiveness of the final composition.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 15, 1992 and granted January 21, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 15, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 15, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
